Daidzein

Daidzein is prepared from resorcinol and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid through condensation and cyclization and recrystallization.  

The production process of daidzein: the acylation reaction of resorcinol and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid under the catalysis of Lewis acid, and then the complex was obtained by the Weismeier reaction, cyclization reaction occurred under acidic conditions, and then recrystallized by ethanol.  The quality standard of daidzein implements the internal control standard of the enterprise, and the conventional specifications are: HPLC≥90% (soybean isoflavones and other products are added in China);  HPLC≥98% (applicable to overseas market).  

Daidzein belongs to isoflavone, which is a kind of non-steroidal compound with estrogen-like function. It is characterized by light white powder, melting point of 315-323℃, and sublimation under high vacuum.  Daidzein is soluble in ethanol and ether, soluble in sodium hydroxide solution can be decomposed, insoluble in water.  Studies have found that daidzein has weak estrogen and weak anti-estrogen effects, and it is mainly used in medicine and health care products.
